DOMAINE CHANTAL LESCURE
Pommard 1er CRU (Bourgogne)
Domaine Chantal Lescure is a family owned and run winery founded by Chantal Lescure and Xavier Machard de Gramont in 1975 and now belongs to their two sons, Aymeric and Thibault Machard de Gramont. The 18 hectares of appellation vines extend from Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte de Nuits to Meursault in the Côte de Beaune.
When Aymeric Machard de Gramont took over the management from his parents in 1996 he had new ideas for working the vines and hired winemaker François Chavériat. The following year, they began to transition towards organic viticulture. Today, the whole domaine is certified organic. The wines of Domaine Chantal Lescure are expressive, with powerful yet delicate tannins. They require several years of aging to reveal their numerous qualities.
PINOT NOIR 100%
Gravity vatting, native yeasts, maceration and soft fermentation. Aging in stainless steel tanks for 18 months. Raised on lees, in barrels. Bottled without filtration. The soil is more limestone than in the east where clay produces the bigger, meatier wines of Pommard. Lescure’s vines are up to 65 years old.
A very opulent and stylish Pommard with concentrated black cherry fruit and toasted spices.
